This will be a very short and to the point column, because I don't have time to talk about a variety of topics.

In the State of Missouri there is a group of uninformed, bumbling bureaucrats known as The Missouri Athletic Commission. This group has all but destroyed professional wrestling in the State of Missouri, and they have struck again. This time it was at a TNA house show in Cape Girardeau, MO, when the commission refused to allow half the wrestlers on the card to compete over licensing issues. Fans were given the option of getting a refund or having fan interaction with the TNA stars.

Now, you might be thinking TNA really got screwed up there in Cape Girardeau, but ultimately it was the fans who got the shaft.

One thing must be said, however much you despise the Missouri Athletic Commission... TNA is partly to blame for this disaster. They should have dealt with the Athletic Commission in advance to make sure they were in compliance with Missouri licensing requirements, as ridiculous as those requirements might be.

Greetings, wrestling addicts!

I just returned from vacation in St. Louis, spending time with kids and grandkids, and I have some things on my mind, so here we go!

I found the following posted on Hollywood's message board:
 
 "What has happened to perfect su yung She never wins, she got fired from wwe when she dropped lawler and now she is going no where in life or in the ring...sad that a talent is so wasted now days.....Maybe she needs to return home to Asia for family support and help"

Now this is allegedly posted by Izzy - you know - Izzy, the one who posts stuff and then denies it was him - yeah, that Izzy... Anyway, I don't ever remember Su Yung being perfect. I don't remember her claiming to be perfect. I do remember her working hard and trying to be the best she could be. After Su and WWE parted company, it is my understanding she stayed in Florida and is doing well for herself down there. She was on the card at the Shine anniversary show recently in Ybor City, Florida, and is on the upcoming Battling Bombshells card in Hollywood, Florida, which is a benefit show for Joyce Grable. It is my understanding she is still on the roster at Magnificent Ladies Wrestling. So, Izzy, if you would read the posts on Wrestling News Center, you would know that she is still involved in wrestling and doing fine.

 
I do wish we would see more of Su in this part of the country, but maybe one day. Perhaps it is you, "Izzy," who need to go to Asia - or maybe Mexico - or maybe under a rock somewhere - or a sewer - or the city dump - anywhere where you could not post your useless drivel.

OK, now let's talk about... AUSTIN LANE! Since Austin's retirement from wrestling we don't see or hear much about him on the various wrestling news sites, which I guess is understandable, but I have something to say to Austin, so here it comes:

Austin, as you know I make an occasional short visit to Magnificent Ladies Wrestling tapings from time to time. During one of my visits a couple of months ago I had a chance to see you working with a couple of the young ladies there, advising them, coaching, mentoring, and pushing them to be the best they can be. I was more than impressed. You are a very gifted and talented instructor. While I realize you are "retired" as an active wrestler, your love for wrestling and your desire to help others succeed was very obvious. Frankly, I think this is now your calling as far as wrestling is concerned. I would love to see you running a wrestling school one day. But for now, I hope you will continue to be a teacher, coach, and mentor to those who are coming up, as often as you can, whenever and wherever you happen to be. I don't think you even realize just how gifted and talented you are in that role.

OK - let's talk about TNA for a minute. I believe we are seeing the beginning of the end for TNA as we know it. Their rumored financial problems have been talked about on every wrestling news site in the country. However, that is not what will ultimately do TNA in. The sad fact is that the writing at TNA sucks. The recent releases from TNA are simply more signs that the end is coming. Oh, it may take some time, they will not go down easily, but they will ultimately go down, not kicking and screaming, but whimpering and defeated, like WCW did. That is a real shame. So much potential, most of it wasted because those who ultimately have the final say at TNA still appear to have no clue as to how to run a wrestling organization. Sad.

OK, now I will answer three emails from the same reader. She sends these questions in about every two weeks, so I will answer them now, hoping that she will be satisfied.

Cindy Grasnowski writes: "You have not given a top ten in ladies wrestling in quite some time. Not so much interested in WWE or TNA, but the indy scene."

Sigh... OK, Cindy, I will do this much, I will list the top ten indy lady stars, based on those I have seen. You will have to realize there are hundreds all over the world I have never seen work, but here are ten of my favorites, in no particular order: Portia Perez, Sarah Stock, Claudia del Solis, Amber O'Neal, Melanie Cruise, Barbi Hayden, Brandi Wine, Great Cheyenne, Pandora, April Hunter. OK, I think that's ten, again in no particular order.

Cindy also writes: "Who are some of the most "off the wall" or unusual female wrestlers you have seen?"

Well, those who come to mind... The late Luna Vachon tops the list. Also Daffney, Buggy Nova, Kong, and ODB.

Finally, Cindy writes: You always weasel out of this one, but who are the10 (from one to ten) most gorgeous ladies in wrestling - I will even let you include TNA & WWE, past & present."

Oh geez, here we go again - and again I say NOPE! I will give you ten who I think are gorgeous, but I am not going to rank then from one to ten. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But those who come to mind are: Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, AJ Lee, The Bella Twins, Mickie James, Gail Kim, Taryn Terrell, Kelly Kelly, Maryse, Torrie Wilson. Again, they are in no particular order. Do you feel like I left someone out? I probably did, but you said WWE & TNA past & present were included, so that made it hard to pick just 10.

Finally, Dudley Slyce writes: "Why does EWP still book Bill Dundee? He is as old as dirt." First of all, Dudley, you need to learn some RESPECT. I hope someone teaches it to you real soon. I assume you mean EPW, Dudley. There are three reasons, as I see it, why they book Bill Dundee:
1. He is a living legend in pro wrestling.
2. He knows what he is doing. He has forgotten twice as much as most of these so called indy professionals will ever know.
3. The fans want to see him kick butt. Period.
So, Dudley, that is why Bill "Superstar" Dundee is on the card at EPW as often as EPW can get him. Now, go look up the word respect.

The Axeman Speaks: The End of an Era - The Torch Has Been Passed!

Webster's New World Dictionary and Student Handbook gives the following definition of the word INTEGRITY:
"The quality of being honest and trustworthy; honesty or uprightness."

Saturday, June 22, 2013, marked the end of an era in professional wrestling in the Mid-South area. Darrell and Susan Bruff, owners of Magnificent Ladies Wrestling, have officially retired and sold "The Mag." They will be missed - greatly.

Several years ago, Darrell and Susan started an all women's wrestling organization, literally on a wing and a prayer. There were many who said it would never get off the ground. There were those who said a ladies wrestling company would never make it, especially one that relied on selling custom matches and downloads.

Fast forward several years. Magnificent Ladies Wrestling is alive and well. In fact, it is thriving, thanks to the hard work, dedication, blood, sweat, and tears of the owners, Darrell and Susan. Oh, no doubt about it, they had some rough times - some VERY rough times. There were a couple of times Darrell was ready to give up, but he did not. There was a time when a very unscrupulous individual tried to put the organization completely out of business. Although facing a very underhanded attack, Darrell stood his ground, with professionalism and integrity, and eventually won. 

Were mistakes made? You bet, but Darrell and Susan learned from them. Slowly their hard work began to pay off, and Magnificent Ladies Wrestling eventually morphed into a successful, highly respected, first class ladies wrestling organization.

Darrell and Susan beat the odds and proved that a ladies wrestling company CAN be successful. How did they do it, you might ask? By doing something that, unfortunately, is rare, and becoming more rare each day in the world of professional wrestling. They did business with the utmost INTEGRITY. Their word was good. If they told you it would be a certain way, then that's the way it was. If they said they would pay a certain amount, that's what they paid. By doing business that way they earned the respect and loyalty of their customers, staff, and wrestlers from all over the country, and that is why they were successful.

So... If you are an indy promoter, booker, or wrestler, of if you aspire to be involved in pro wrestling in any capacity, I suggest you look at the way Darrell and Susan have done business, and do business the same way, with integrity. You will be glad you did.

Darrell and Susan, I want to take this opportunity to wish you all the best in the future. Thank you for your contribution to wrestling, and in particular to women's wrestling. Good luck, and God bless!

The torch has now been passed. The new owner of Magnificent Ladies Wrestling is Destiny. I am sure Destiny will do a great job. I have been told that Destiny intends to run a lot more house shows, which I think is a good thing. She will do a great job! Congratulations, Destiny!

I am saddened beyond words to hear of the death of my friend, Dwight Burcham.


Dwight was known in wrestling as Death Wish. He was a great person to be around. I went on numerous road trips to wrestling events with him, and we had great time. Truly a first class individual. He had a real sense of humor and unique ability to make us laugh.

You will be missed, Dwight. Rest in peace, and thanks for the memories. More importantly, thanks for your friendship.

Greetings, wrestleholics!

First of all, and most important, happy birthday to... me! Yes, my friends, I am another year older, 60 years old to be exact! OMG, where did the time go?!

Oh well, on to other matters....

I was able to go see the EPW show in Booneville, MS, Saturday night, and what a show it was! The arena was packed out. As usual, Hollywood was up to no good, but Bonecrusher managed to humiliate Hollywood in the end. Hollywood was so mad he later challenged Bonecrusher to a loser leaves town match for next week. Hollywood said he is bringing in a wrestling legend who has never wrestled in Booneville before, and he will face Cassanova Kid, who will be managed by Bonecrusher. If Hollywood's wrestler loses, Hollywood must leave EPW. However, Bonecrusher could also be the one leaving EPW if Kid loses. Hollywood also announced that the special guest referee for the match will be none other than former WWE star and wrestling legend Downtown Bruno.

Hollywood had the following to say on Facebook"

"Bone Crusher is GONE from EPW after next week...I'm bringing somebody who hates EPW, They hate Bone Crusher, They Hate Edith Poole..They hate Grady Watson...They Hate Cassanova Kidd..I called him tonight and told him how I was treated by EPW ...he's pissed off just like me...He's never been to EPW and he's been arrested for slapping fans....next week...I'm bringing a bad ass to ePW and Bonecrusher will have to leave EPW after my man destroys his son."

Who will be leaving EPW, Hollywood or Bonecrusher? This Saturday night at EPW promises to be a wild and crazy night - wish I could be there.

I must compliment the EPW crew on the work that has been done to the EPW building. It looks great!

OK, this is a wrestling column, so now that I have talked about wrestling.... to change the subject, as a public service, I want to pass on several short management lessons to all my readers. I will include one lesson in this column, and one in the next four columns. Here is the first lesson:

Lesson 1:

A priest offered a Nun a lift. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg... The nun said, 'Father, remember Psalm 129?' The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, 'Father, remember Psalm 129?'  The priest apologized 'Sorry sister but the flesh is weak.' Arriving at the convent, the nun sighed heavily and went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, 'Go forth and seek. Further up, you will find glory.'
The moral of this story: If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity. 

And now I leave you with my philosophy on getting old:

I CAN'T QUIT NOW!

I once thought I was invincible,

that nothing could ever stop me.

I once thought I was king of the world,

and nobody could ever top me.

I once thought I was immortal,

that I would live forever.

I thought I had it all figured out,

I was bright, and smart, and clever.

And now I find those thoughts of mine

Immortality has eluded me,

I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very merry Christmas. That's right, I said Christmas, not happy holidays, not season's greetings. This year, let's remember the reason for the season, Jesus Christ.

Jesus has been kicked out of our schools. We can't even have a nativity scene in a public place any more. It has been said that The United States of America is no longer a Christian nation. How sad. Our country - not just our country, but our world - is becoming a darker and more evil place every day.

Christ has been largely removed from Christmas and been replaced with Santa, shopping, presents, partying, commercialism, and so on. Now, there is nothing wrong with any of these things, as long as we keep them in proper perspective. They are fun. None of these things, however, can replace Jesus.

So this Christmas I hope all of you will include Jesus when you celebrate. He is the light that shines in the darkness of our world. We need Him now more than ever.

Wow, two columns in one week. Now how unusual is that? This one will be short and to the point.

Every year WNC allows our readers to nominate wrestlers, announcers, referees, etc. for the end of year awards. Nominations are made by our readers, NOT the WNC staff.  The top 3 or four nominees in each category are then posted at wrestling news center, where our readers can vote on them. The top vote getter in each category is, of course, the winner, Again, the winners are NOT selected by the WNC staff.

Every year there is some hot headed, shit stirring, trouble making IDIOT who posts something negative on the board about the WNC awards. This year is no different. The following was posted on the Southern Territory WrestleBoard by someone who, of course, posted anonymously:

"wnc is a biased and friend based website. There our many great wrestlers, and tag teams, as well as gimmciks. But yet, the asylum is in numerous categories. Horrible in ring work, horrible gimmicks, yet they always win. That's just an example. Promotion of the year? Now crossfire, saw, Tcw ect. But country ass hick town Outlaw shows. All Of the "workers" get together and vote for each other. It's a bunch of hicks nominating themselves, and then voting for themselves. Simple"

LOL, this post was obviously made by an illiterate fool who has no knowledge of grammar, punctuation, or spelling. Be that as it may, this idiot has made several other mistakes.

First of all, WNC is not biased against any organization. We post news and information from any and all organizations who want the coverage. 

Next, like I said before, THE READERS nominate in each category. The readers vote for the winners. With the voting system WNC uses, it is not possible to vote more than once from the same computer. So how does that make WNC biased? Now, I agree, there are many talented tag teams and wrestlers out there. However, only a few were nominated. How does that make WNC biased? There are many good promotions out there, but only a handful were nominated. So how does that make WNC biased?

Bottom line: If you are not happy with the nominees this year, that's too bad! Perhaps you should have gotten up off your rosey red rear and sent in some nominations yourself, instead of whining about who was nominated. Are you pissed because you were not nominated? Well, like I said, the readers (fans) do the nominating, so maybe you should stop whining and trying to piss people off, and go find some fans of your own who care enough about your miserable carcass to nominate you! Oh, and if you do not like the way the voting is done, stop bitching about it and suggest a better way.
